Oopsie Bread Nam-ı Diğer "Yanlışlıkla Ekmek" :)

I used to make this bread so often. When I realized it had been a while, I decided to make it again and add it to the blog this time. The recipe isn’t mine, and nobody knows who made it first. It’s quite popular among Americans. A favorite among those on a low-carb diet.

Its name is Oppsie Bread. I think the person who made it probably realized they hadn’t added flour and thought, “Oops, how did this bread turn out without flour?” and that’s how the name came about. In Turkish, it sounds something like “Accidental Bread” 🙂

Actually, it’s egg-based, but since it can be used as bread, it’s a great alternative when you’re tired of classic egg-based options.

It’s very quick to make. I made it this morning, and it was ready by the time the tea was brewed.

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • A pinch of baking powder
  • Salt

That’s all the ingredients, and a satisfying breakfast is ready in 15 minutes. This is enough for three meals, so now I’ll eat this bread in different forms for breakfast three mornings. I’ll add those to this post too 🙂

We separate the egg whites and yolks. We add baking powder and salt to the egg whites and whisk them with a mixer. We whisk the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. If you don’t have a mixer, you can do it by hand; it might take a while, but it’s still possible 🙂

Once it reaches this consistency, I mix in the egg yolks and labneh cheese that I’ve whisked in a separate bowl. Now, here’s a trick. The egg yolk and labneh mixture is a liquid mixture. When mixing this mixture into the egg whites, we need to mix very gently and slowly. If we add it by whisking quickly, the meringue-like consistency of the egg whites will disappear, and then our bread won’t rise. If you mix the egg yolk mixture from the bottom, slowly upwards, the mixture won’t deflate.

Meanwhile, we preheat our oven to 150 degrees Celsius (turbo setting). We place spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, being careful not to crush them.

I sprinkled sesame seeds on some, pumpkin seeds on others, and put them in the oven. They were cooked in less than 10 minutes. I recommend keeping a close eye on them, they cook very quickly 🙂

I previously made these breads into pizza format. They’ll be here tomorrow morning 🙂 I got 6. I was full after eating 2.

You can put meatballs in them, or make hamburgers. These breads can be whatever you want to imagine them being 🙂

Enjoy your meal in advance to those who will try it. If you write your questions and opinions in the comments below, it will benefit other readers as well 🙂 Hooray for the joy of low-carb diets!
