I think this is one of the easiest, healthiest, and most delicious desserts from Anatolia: fig pudding. This dessert is the recipe that inspired me to start my Instagram account. About four years ago, I was searching for a recipe online. That’s when I came across this fig pudding recipe on my dear friend Çağla’s blog, “I’m Not on a Diet.” Thinking it was a great recipe, I started browsing her blog. Back then, Instagram was just a platform for me to post pictures with my husband and Dinom, and share photos of myself and my friends. I saw that she had an Instagram page on her blog and decided to check it out. And wow, I saw that she had diet and food accounts. I thought, “Let me start an account too, posting the sugar-free and healthy things I make at home,” and here we are today! 😍
Ingredients
* 1 cup of your preferred milk. I overheated it while making yogurt, so I set one cup aside.
* I chopped 2 dried figs into tiny pieces and blended them with 2-3 tablespoons of warm milk.
* I mixed the figs into milk at yogurt-making temperature and, just like making yogurt, wrapped the jar in a cloth. I let it sit at room temperature. After 3 hours, the dessert was ready. The figs ferment the milk, making it like pudding. It’s a wonderful dessert with cinnamon on top.
* If you’re wondering what the fermentation temperature is, dip your little finger in the milk. If you can count to 5-6 without burning your finger, that’s the right temperature.
As far as I know, this is an anonymous dessert. It’s very popular in Anatolia. Those who like sweets can increase the number of figs to 3. Even 2 is too much for me.
This has become my husband’s favorite dessert since he gave up sugar 🙂 Enjoy to everyone who tries it…
