From time to time, I get those evening cravings for chips. You write to me a lot about it. I also love crunchy, salty, garlicky things, and the most innocent version is fava bean chips 🙂
There’s an emotional aspect to these evening food cravings, but before we get to that, let’s try to satisfy the physical craving in a healthy way. 🙂 I wanted to tell you about fava bean chips, which I make often, and which I remembered how delicious they were when they were offered as a complimentary appetizer at a restaurant we went to last week. In fact, they were foods I frequently encountered in health food markets in England. 😊
You can feed them to your children, yourself, and the whole family with peace of mind 🙂 I do the same method with chickpeas, there are many recipes below. I think this is better, it’s more like chips. It’s very simple.
-I soaked the dried fava beans (fresh fava beans won’t work, they’re sold in the dried legume section of supermarkets like chickpeas and beans 🙂 in water for 4-5 hours. They’re quite soft by then. -I mixed olive oil, pepper, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt in a glass. You can add any spices you like.
-I drained the fava beans, patted them dry with a paper towel, and mixed them with the sauce.
-I spread them on a baking sheet and baked them in a preheated turbo oven at 170 degrees until crispy. I think it took about 40 minutes. They’re crispy when they come out of the oven.
If you’re using chickpeas, you need to soak them in water at least overnight. You can jar them and store them. They lose their crispness the next day, but when you’re ready to eat them, just put them in the oven for 5 minutes and they’ll be crispy again. Those with an Actifry can also make them there. Perfect for throwing in your bag when going out or to the cinema. Evenings are getting longer, and late-night snack cravings are increasing. This is perfect for those times.
I wish everyone a happy, healthy, sugar-free week.
With love,
