sebzeler ve yiyeceklerin hazırlandığı bir an

I wrote this post in 2018 🙂 It’s now December 2020, and I saw it was getting a lot of reads, so I decided to update it a bit 🙂

It was a post describing my preparations for the elimination diet I did in 2018. It has been very helpful to those who want to do their own elimination diet. That was exactly my goal, and I’m very happy about that 🙂

I’m following the Institute for Functional Medicine protocol, of course, based on FMCA.

This is a healing and cleansing diet. It’s not for weight loss, although it’s possible to lose weight. The important thing is to temporarily remove and cleanse the body of all food groups that cause allergens, inflammation, or are difficult to digest. Then, you gradually reintroduce those foods one by one, finding the food group that the body reacts to. I’ll explain the reintroduction process in detail later.

Now, let’s get to the weekly preparations I did this weekend. I’m so happy to hear that many people will be doing this diet with me! Many people on Instagram said “I’ll join too,” so I’ve brought my preparations here to help 🙂 It will also serve as a guide for those who want to try this diet in the future. The details of the diet are in this week’s HTHayat post, which I’ve linked above.

* Yesterday I made Olive Crackers that keep you full. I already made a separate post about that. You can access it by clicking here. The crackers listed in the menu will be these crackers.

* I washed and dried the greens, wrapped them in a cloth, and put them in a bowl. I washed the parsley and put it in a bag in the refrigerator. Making a salad or smoothie will only take 2 minutes all week. As you know, salad will be the thing we eat most on this diet 🙂

* Yesterday, when I bought some fresh greens, I squeezed the ones I had left from last week. A morning elixir made of spinach, chard, celery stalks, and lemon 🙂 I drank half of it this morning, and the other half for tomorrow morning.

* I soaked the chickpeas in kefir water. They sat overnight. Today they’ll be enough food for us for two days. If you’re wondering why I soak them in kefir water, it’s to remove more phytic acid and prevent gas. Doing it this way really prevents gas.

I put half a cup of kefir in a bowl of water. Homemade yogurt whey or homemade yogurt will also work. I soaked them yesterday, and this morning I poured out the water and put them in regular water. They’ll be ready to eat soon 🙂

December 2020: Normally, I don’t use dairy products in my elimination diet, but the ones used when soaking legumes don’t bother me. I don’t use them at all anymore. I just sprout them directly. You can find the details in this link.

You can also use the liquid released from homemade yogurt that isn’t kefir. It can also be soaked in plain water.

* I sautéed 200g of minced meat. Keeping it in the refrigerator makes it very easy to turn into a meal during the week.

* I put almonds and walnuts in a jar of drinking water. This is also to reduce the phytic acid in the nuts. And I like their taste better this way. The dried nuts become more active and, in my opinion, much more filling. These will be added to my salad, especially in the mornings, during the week.

* I made pumpkin cookies. They’re definitely not sweet, but they’re delicious. They’re not crispy, but they’re filling! :)))

3 tablespoons pumpkin puree (you can find out how to make it in my Pumpkin Tart recipe)

8 tablespoons gluten-free oatmeal

1 tablespoon flax seeds, ground in a coffee grinder and gelled with 2 tablespoons of water.

1.5 tablespoons coconut oil

I added cinnamon and nutmeg.

I mixed everything together. I baked them in a 175°C (turbo oven) for 30 minutes. They yielded 8 cookies about the size of a teacup saucer.

* Now, let’s get to my weekly menu. I’ve prepared a plan like this so I don’t overindulge in grains. Also, knowing what I’m going to eat will prevent me from overeating; being prepared is always good. There might be changes to the plan, but this will be the general framework.

My breakfast might change daily depending on whether I feel hungry or not, and maybe depending on my workout schedule. Sometimes I skip breakfast or eat it very late.

I’m still one of those people who loves writing by hand. I prepared my plan in my notebook. I hope you can read my handwriting 🙂

My plan also includes writing down any changes during the week. I’ll share the final version on my Instagram account.

* We’ll be eating colorful salads this week. It’s very important to include vegetables of every color. I wanted to give you a couple of examples 🙂

I’m so excited! I’m not focusing on the things I can’t eat. I’m focusing on new options I can eat. This diet will challenge me and lead me to create new things. I’m so happy about that.

December 2020: So much has happened since then 🙂 Right now, I’m leading elimination diets for many people every month and getting incredible results. I’ve witnessed hundreds of times how nutrition improves illnesses or overall health. You can read about the first happy endings here. People who reduced their thyroid medication after elimination, those who got pregnant, those whose blood pressure dropped, those who reduced their diabetes medication, those who jumped out of bed like rockets, those whose migraines disappeared… The list goes on and on. Now I also incorporate Mindfulness Eating into my programs, and I think this was one of the most important parts. It was very helpful in understanding what we eat and why we eat it. Since the happy endings didn’t fit into one post, I’ve created a second one, and you can read about the amazing changes via this link.

I’m providing all the information you need to do it yourself, but if you think you can’t do it on your own and also want to learn about mindful eating, you can join my programs. My “I’m on Elimination, I’m Mindful” group seminars are held every two months 🙂 You can get details by clicking the link, and you can always contact my assistant at nur@semaozpekmezci.com
