The article everyone’s been waiting for is here! How am I supporting my transition to menopause? Hormones, supplements, or nutrition? Here’s the explanation 🙂 If you haven’t seen my previous posts about menopause, I suggest you start with those. You can find detailed information in my articles titled “Are You Preparing for Menopause?” and “Let’s Get to Know Menopause”.
I’m in my third month without a period. It just suddenly disappeared. I don’t know if it will come back or not, but as you know, I’ve been feeling it for a while now, so I’ve been thinking about it quite a bit. According to my doctor, it seems we’ve said goodbye.
I was prepared for menopause. The only thing I want to shout to all women is “GET PREPARED!” Nine months ago, even though I was doing great with my current system, I started a DKYY (Diet, Nutrition, and Diet) diet because I was gaining weight. It was the right step. I’ll talk about that separately.
As a result of 20 years of healthy eating and self-care, I’m experiencing almost no menopausal effects. Aside from a little weight gain, some joint pain, and forgetfulness, I’m not experiencing much else. My blood test results are so good I could hang them on the wall. The biggest risks associated with entering and during menopause are osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome. With these blood values, this diet/lifestyle, and my bone condition, I currently don’t have any of these risks.
Because of my history of breast cancer, I can’t use bioequivalent hormones. My doctor already told me that with my current lifestyle and condition, I don’t need to worry about the post-menopausal period, and even if I were taking HRT, I would still need to change my diet and lifestyle for a healthy middle age. My doctor said he doesn’t prescribe bioHRT to anyone who doesn’t change their diet. Whether you like it or not, diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management are still number one 🙂 My gut and liver must be healthy to synthesize that hormone. Otherwise, we’re just fooling ourselves.
The only risk is the decrease in bone density that can occur later and begin with age. Muscles will support this. Instead of medication/hormones, I exercise 🙂 Magnesium and exercise have been the best things for my joint pain.
As for the supplements I use, I take a mixed supplement of magnesium, vitamin D (essential for bone and joint health, at least 60-70), collagen, and glucosamine, and also a memory supplement. My forgetfulness seems to have improved.
In conclusion, I’m walking this path without fear, I’m already halfway there 🙂 Very good things have happened too. The menstrual headaches that have been ruining my life for the last 2-3 years (I’ll talk about that too, estrogen dominance) are gone. My eyes have been opened, honestly. The intense brain fog I was experiencing is gone too.
You can say “I’ve entered menopause” after a year without bleeding. Therefore, I’m still in perimenopause. The special diet I’ve been following for this period has been incredibly supportive.
You can also watch my video “The Unnoticed Footsteps of Menopause,” where I describe my experiences and the symptoms I’ve observed during this transition, on my YouTube channel.
Everything I’ve learned from: DKYY diet, intermittent fasting (sometimes long, sometimes short, sometimes no fasting), exercise almost every day, zero alcohol, spending lots of affectionate and loving time with my husband, spending plenty of time with my dogs (for estrogen), and keeping myself away from things that upset me.
This process isn’t something to be afraid of, it’s not an illness, but the body and mind change incredibly. Knowing this and being prepared will help us get through middle age healthy, vibrant, and energetic. We still have so much to do 🙂
This is not medical advice, it’s my own experience.
Sending you all love.
