Why are we so different from men?
Why don’t they understand us?
Something we could or wanted to do one week, we don’t want to do the next. Men can’t understand this. Maybe if they read this article, they’ll understand a little.
The answer to the questions above is, “Because women are in a complex cycle.” The problem isn’t with us; we’re under the influence of our constantly changing hormonal cycle 🙂 Now I’ll tell you about the hormonal changes we experience within our 1-month cycle.
In phase 1, if we call the day we get our period day 1, we produce a tremendous amount of estrogen in the first 10 days. During these days of estrogen production, our energy levels skyrocket; we can run, jump, dance. We can take on everything like Xena, saying, “Move aside, I’m coming!” It’s also the best time for fat burning. We can literally fly during this period.
In phase 2, progesterone and testosterone are added to the estrogen we produce. It’s a complete hormone cocktail, ovulation period, a time for creativity… If we want to start a new job, a new project, or have a baby – and nature has given us that ability – ovulation period is a fantastic time for all of these things.
Then we move on to phase 3; estrogen is withdrawn and we enter a period dominated by progesterone. This is a very important period for the implantation of the embryo if fertilization has occurred, or for the start of the second cycle if fertilization has not. For progesterone to be released, we need to spend this period more calmly, more introspectively, and by making ourselves happier. The body needs to do things it enjoys more to produce progesterone. But this doesn’t mean sitting and eating chocolate; it means calming the nervous system. The nervous system needs to shift more towards the parasympathetic (i.e., calmness, rest) state. Although the stress hormone cortisol rises during the day (this is inevitable), we must remember to stop it. This can be achieved by taking 3-4 calm breaths, reading a page or two of something you enjoy, listening to music, looking at the sea or a tree, or taking peaceful walks. The body’s need for carbohydrates may be higher during this period. But this need shouldn’t be met by eating pizza/chocolate, etc. We can meet this need by increasing our intake of healthy carbohydrates such as legumes, fruits, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin.
We go through this cycle all month. When your next period starts, the same cycle will repeat, and this goes on for years. Then we say, “These men don’t understand us.” 🙂 They can’t understand; because they aren’t under such a complex hormonal cycle. Maybe even you sometimes don’t understand. I hope this information I’ve shared is helpful. You can also share it with women and men you think might benefit from it 🙂
With love to all,
Sema
